Beware of Limited Perspectives

"When you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail". Separate your beliefs from facts and discover opportunities and synergies latent in your organization. It's much easier to change your point of view than it is to change your entire development organization.

Your current business practices were not delivered to you through divine intervention on two tablets. Sometimes organizations continue bad practices simply because they are not aware of alternatives. A hard look at your processes will often reveal "limiting beliefs" that when removed will accelerate your development.

Deeply entrenched beliefs tied to suboptimal processes are often the result of politics and organizational beliefs. Determine which beliefs are flexible and can be altered to accelerate your development; conversely, determine if you have entrenched beliefs that prevent you from adopting more agile methods.
